Phil Forsyth

With over three decades of extensive experience in fragile and conflict-affected states, Phil has consistently demonstrated his commitment to international peace and security. His journey began in the British Army, where he served as an intelligence specialist, contributing to peace support, security sector reform, and stabilisation missions.

One of Phil's notable achievements includes leading a pioneering police reform project in North Africa. His role involved the design and delivery of a comprehensive program that developed strategies for addressing serious and organised crime, counter-terrorism, national training, and national intelligence models. Beyond his professional pursuits, Phil is a passionate advocate for human rights. He has developed a model and tools for conducting human rights impact assessments, further emphasising his dedication to promoting fairness and justice.

Throughout his career, Phil has been a valuable asset to international non-governmental organisations operating in the Middle East and Africa. His expertise has been instrumental in supporting humanitarian efforts and combatting human trafficking orchestrated by organised crime groups across Africa. Phil's multifaceted skill set also extends to conducting investigations into acts of war crimes and crimes against humanity, involving both Daesh and state actors.

 

Jackie Vallack

Jackie has 30 years of experience as an investigator, crime skills trainer and intelligence specialist at local, regional, national, and international levels. She holds a teaching qualification and has designed, managed, and delivered global training programmes to law enforcement personnel.

Jackie has expertise in specialist investigative interviewing of victims, witnesses, and suspects. She has worked extensively with government agencies and departments throughout Africa to combat serious organised and transnational crime.

As a senior advisor for the UNODC, she has developed training needs assessments and supporting curricula in Africa and Asia for law enforcement agencies and delivered training in specialist interview techniques.

Jackie has worked in challenging environments including a police reform project in Libya and has also managed a strategic international education programme for military personnel on behalf of the British High Commission in Botswana. She has a passion for assisting children and vulnerable adults who have been subjected to trauma.

 

Kevin Vallack

Kevin is a former UK law enforcement and intelligence professional with extensive experience in international counter terrorism operations and investigations. Since 2017 he has worked across Africa, providing expert advice to senior leaders and practitioners on tackling organised crime, including trafficking and corruption.

Kevin’s worked as a Senior Advisor for UNODC on law enforcement across Africa. Additionally, he was part of a team delivering Police reform and capacity building in Libya, drafting and implementing a new National Intelligence Strategy. He has also recently worked as a long term mentor in Kenya, assisting the Anti Human Trafficking and Child Protection Unit.

Kevin is a strong advocate of contextual understanding to help design bespoke solutions and he has conducted baseline assessments of key law enforcement issues in several African countries. He has worked with numerous civil society organisations and international donor organisations and has been involved in supporting community focussed projects in Africa.
